‎‎PRESS RELEASE:

TERRORISM LIE AGAINST IRAN: ISRAEL'S AMBASSADOR IS SOMNAMBULATING - MURIC

‎‎A rights group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has accused the ambassador of Israel to Nigeria of somnambulism. This was sequel to the ambassador's allegation that Iran was behind terrorism in Nigeria. The group warned the ambassador to keep his tales by moonlight to the fairy angels in Tel Aviv and Washington.

‎‎MURIC's comment was made in a statement circulated on Monday, 9th March, 2026 by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

‎‎He added the details below:

‎‎"Israel's ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman, on Friday, 6th March, 2026 accused Iran of being behind terrorism in Nigeria (https://www-vanguardngr-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/www.vanguardngr.com/2026/03/iran-behind-terrorism-in-nigeria/amp/).

‎‎"We reject Israel's allegation totally, completely and categorically. This allegation is baseless, audacious and fallacious. Israel's ambassador to Nigeria must have been somnambulating at the time he made the allegation.

‎‎"This is kettle calling pot black. Now we know sleep-walkers do not see clearly.  Who is the terrorist between Israel and Iran? Who is the champion of state terrorism in the whole world? Who surrounded Gaza, denying the legitimate citizens food and water? Who has been engaging in targeted killing of Palestinian activists? Who assassinated Hamas leaders assembled for peaceful negotiations?

‎‎"Israelis have no moral right to accuse any nation of terrorism. The whole world knows that aggression is in Israel's DNA and terrorism is a state dogma. Israel flaunts state assassinations and revels in seas of blood. Arrogance, impunity and international criminality are the values and norms that Israel promotes.

"As at March 6th, 2026, at least 75,227 Palestinians have been killed in Gaza since the 7th October invasion. Who killed them? 21,283 of these are children. More than 25,000 are women! 248 journalists are among those killed. 120 are university lecturers. Just a few days ago, Israel killed 165 girls in an Iranian school. What do we call that? Is it not a war crime?

‎‎"Lest the ambassador forgets, the November 21, 2024 warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC) for the arrest of Benjamin Netanyahu and former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza is still valid. The charges include using starvation as a weapon of war, murder and persecution. What else can we call state terrorism?

‎"To Michael Freeman, the Israeli Ambassador, we have this to say, 'Keep your tales by moonlight to the fairy angels in Tel Aviv and Washington. You can railroad the White House.  You can blackmail Arab leaders. Nigerians refuse to be hoodwinked. Sleep-walkers have no place here. Kudos to that journalist for shutting you up."

EL-RUFAI'S ALLEGED BLEEDING NOSE: EVIDENCE OF BRUTALISATION IN CUSTODY? - MURIC

‎‎PRESS RELEASE:

EL-RUFAI'S ALLEGED BLEEDING NOSE: EVIDENCE OF BRUTALISATION IN CUSTODY? - MURIC

‎‎A civil liberties advocacy group, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has raised questions about the alleged bleeding nose of the former governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai who is currently in the custody of a security agency. The group also wanted to know if this development was responsible for his absence in court on the day of his expected arraignment.

‎‎The questions were raised in a statement circulated to the press on Saturday, 7th March, 2026 by the Executive Director of MURIC, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

‎‎He said further:

‎‎"Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, former governor of Kaduna State, reportedly suffered from a bleeding nose recently while still in the custody of one of the security agencies. To date, there has been no comment on this ugly development from official quarters.

‎‎"El-Rufai's bleeding nose may be as a result of brutalisation in custody or due to denial of access to his medicine. We also want to know if this ugly development was responsible for his absence in court on the day of his expected arraignment.

‎‎"The Muslim Rights Concern is concerned because the Nigerian project is the joint responsibility of all its citizens. Ditto for the security and welfare of its citizens, particularly those in detention.

‎‎"It is the duty of human rights groups and the rest of civil society to interrogate the actions and inactions of security agencies and to ensure transparency and accountability in their handling of suspects.

‎‎"The case of a detainee suffering a bleeding nose should naturally attract questions. Mallam El-Rufai is a former minister and a former state governor. He is therefore a respected citizen of this country. We believe that he deserves decent treatment no matter the charges he is facing. Those charges are there for the courts to determine their weight and merit.

“It is in the interest of the jamaahiir (poor masses) of this great country to be worried if, allegedly, a former minister and former governor cannot get decent treatment. The next question should be: what if it is an ordinary Nigerian? That is why we are asking questions. There can be no future for this country if we all forget those in detention particularly those whose detention seem to have political undercurrent.

“We assert clearly, unequivocally and emphatically that Mallam El-Rufai deserves good treatment and access to his medical doctor and medicine. It was therefore disturbing to hear that his wife who brought food for him sometime ago was not allowed to hand over the food to him directly but through his captors. This is a dangerous trend that even kindergarten kids understand its implications (https://dailytrust.com/el-rufais-nose-bled-in-detention-wife-prevented-from-delivering-his-meal-aide/).

‎‎"Our security agencies will benefit immensely from civility, humility and high level professionalism in their treatment of suspects. An Hitlerian age Gestapo style will only create a wide gulf between the security agencies and the citizens while giving the false optics of a banana republic in the minds of Nigerians and outsiders.

‎‎"We remind the handlers of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai of the need to respect his Allah-given fundamental human rights. In particular, we are concerned about his right to the Dignity of the Human Person as guaranteed in Section 34 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which says 'No person shall be subjected to torture or to inhuman or degrading treatment'."

“We note with concern that supporters of El-Rufai have staged protests in Kaduna. Yet we are relieved that the protests have been peaceful so far. We appeal to all to remain peaceful, calm and law-abiding.”

AMUPITAN'S ALLEGATION AGAINST MUSLIMS ON CHRISTIAN GENOCIDE: MURIC TAKES CASE TO NASS

‎‎4th March, 2026

‎‎PRESS RELEASE:

AMUPITAN'S ALLEGATION AGAINST MUSLIMS ON CHRISTIAN GENOCIDE: MURIC TAKES CASE TO NASS

‎‎The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has taken its case against the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, to the National Assembly (NASS). MURIC and other Islamic organizations are demanding the removal of the INEC boss for sending the 80-page legal brief on Christian genocide used by the United States to indict Nigeria.

‎‎MURIC's renewed agitation came on Wednesday, 4th March, 2026 via a press release issued by the Executive Director of the human rights advocacy group, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

‎‎The statement reads:

‎‎"Three months after Islamic organizations began their demand for the removal of the chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Joash Amupitan, the latter is still in office.

‎‎"The presidency appears uninterested in listening to complaints coming from Islamic organizations (most especially MURIC) about the INEC boss. This is in spite of indisputable evidence of deep involvement of the INEC boss in leveling false allegations and fraudulent charges against Nigerian Muslims before the American audience.

‎‎"We are intrigued by the speed at which the presidency responds when terrorists who are less than 1% of the population make their frivolous demands and the lukewarm approach of the same presidency to genuine, evidence-backed and undeniable complaints of peace-loving, dialogue-compliant and law-abiding Islamic organizations.

‎‎"How can the presidency impose a man who exhibited extreme hatred for Nigerian Muslims, in words and in deeds, on the Muslim electorate and their candidates as the referee in a game where his word is final? Is the presidency waiting for the Muslims to occupy INEC offices all over the country before it will listen to them?

‎‎"Take it or leave it, this issue of Amupitan's documented anti-Muslim prejudice may become the crux of the matter either at the national or state level of an election dispute in 2027. You will say MURIC said so.

‎‎"Since the presidency appears uninterested in listening to the complaints of Muslims against Amupitan, we must take his case to the court of the people's representatives, the National Assembly (NASS). It is not about his religion. It is about the fanatical, hateful and vicious approach adopted by him towards Nigerian Muslims.

‎‎

“The NASS has a moral duty to listen to the case of Nigerian Muslims against Amupitan. As law-abiding and peace-loving citizens, we have brought our case to the Red and Green chambers for adjudication. We deserve listening ears as tax payers. We deserve attention as bona fide Nigerians. We reject Amupitan as INEC boss for the ignoble role he played in bringing American troops to Nigeria. He cannot be an impartial referee in the 2027 contest. Amupitan must go!

"For the records and for the umpteenth time, today's renewal of our demand that Professor Joash Amupitan must be removed as INEC boss will again go into the chronicles of Nigerian history. Fortunately internet does not forget. The number of times we made the demand without getting a single response is now on record.

‎‎"Give us a good Christian, a Christian who has no death wish for his Muslim compatriot. Amupitan cannot be a good referee in a contest involving Muslims after inviting America to come and deal with Muslims in the process of 'protecting Nigerian Christians'.

‎‎"There are many good Christians who will do this INEC job without exhibiting any bias towards Muslims. For the records, many Christians have held that position in the past without the Muslims complaining.

‎‎"Amupitan must go! That is the battlecry. Whoever thinks we have forgotten this demand is making a big mistake. Our cause is just. We have been stabbed in the back. No retreat, No surrender."

KHAMENEI KILLING: MUSLIMS SHOULD ALIENATE US, ALLIES – MURIC

‎‎PRESS RELEASE:

‎‎KHAMENEI KILLING: MUSLIMS SHOULD ALIENATE US, ALLIES – MURIC

‎‎Iran's supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in a joint US-Israel bombing of Iran yesterday.

‎‎Reacting to his killing, an Islamic human rights organization, the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC), described the incident as extremely outrageous, unlawful aggression and an assault on international law and order.

‎‎MURIC's reaction was expressed in a press release issued on Sunday, 1st March, 2026 by its Executive Director, Professor Ishaq Akintola.

‎‎He said:

‎‎"The supreme leader of the Republic of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was killed in a joint US-Israel bombing of Iran yesterday, Saturday, 28th February, 2026.

‎‎"We strongly condemn this killing. It is extremely outrageous, preposterous and unlawful. The attack constitutes an assault on international law and order.

‎‎"By attacking Iran while peaceful negotiations were going on, the US and Israel have sent a strong, negative and most dangerous signal to the world that this is the age of criminal aggression, the end of friendly relations based on mutual trust, the era of 'might is right' and the demise of trans-atlantic transparency.

‎‎"MURIC admonishes Muslim leaders around the world to trust the US and its Western allies at their own risk and to expect daggers and bullets instead of handshakes and salads at the table.

‎‎"Within Nigeria, we call on Muslims to shun official engagements with leaders of other religious groups but to continue to be good neighbours to all, loving, giving and tolerating. At the same time, we urge Nigerian Muslims to remain peaceful and law abiding but vigilant. Eternal vigilance is the price of freedom."
