WE MOURN MAIDOKI’S MOTHER -
MURIC
Malam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki, the Sadaukin Sokoto, Executive
Chairman of Sokoto State Zakat and Waqf Commission (SOZECOM), lost his mother, Hajiya
Fadimatu Maidoki, yesterday, Wednesday, 3rd February, 2021. She was 111
years old. Her funeral was attended yesterday by the State Governor, Alhaji Aminu
Waziri Tambuwal, the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Muhammad Sa’ad Abubakar and many
other dignitaries.
In a statement issued by the director of the Muslim Rights Concern
(MURIC), Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Thursday, 4th February, 2021, MURIC
condoled Mallam Muhammad Lawal Maidoki on the loss of his mother. The human
rights group also sent a delegation consisting of members of MURIC Sokoto
Chapter to condole the Maidoki family.
“The late Hajiya Fadimatu who was also known as ‘Igen Maidoki’ is
from the noble lineage of Ummarun Mu’alkammu whose family still holds the title
of ‘Magajin Rafin Sokoto’. Her father Malam Abdulkadir, also known as Jikan
Bahago, was a renowned Islamic scholar just like her mother Malama Yatu.
“The deceased was also a
respected community leader and teacher who had imparted knowledge to many and inspired
thousands of Sokoto women particularly in the pursuit of education and engagement
in fruitful careers.
“She left behind seven children and more than fifty grand children.
Six of the children are females while only one of them, Malam Muhammad Lawal
Maidoki (Sadaukin Sokoto) is a male. The female children are : Malama Hauwa’u,
Malama Hadiza, Malama Fadimatu, Malama Umaimatu,
Malama Hafsat and Malama Sa’adatu.
“MURIC stands in mourning
today in solidarity with a great friend and committed Muslim brother, Mallam
Muhammad Lawal Maidoki. You are not alone. The entire officials and members of MURIC
are with you. The Chairman of the Sokoto Chapter of MURIC, Mallam Muniru Shehu,
has been advised to lead a delegation of members of MURIC Sokoto Chapter in a
condolence visit to the Maidokis later today.
“We pray that Allah forgives Hajiya Fadimatu and reserves a lofty
place for her in Al-Jannat. May Allah also give the family the fortitude to
bear the loss”.
